MOLD INSPECTION & TESTING

Along with the visual inspection EnviroDetect certified mold inspectors perform, they will also use a variety of inspection sampling procedures and equipment in order to get the best analysis possible of the indoor air quality environment within the home.  These will be found through tools such as air quality samples, direct samples, swab samples, etc.

When should airborne mold testing be done?

Indoor Air Quality testing is usually done when the occupants are having a potential exposure to a mold growth.  For example, they could have recently had a water damage occur in the master bathroom of the property and they are concerned about mold growth near/around their newborn daughter.  While the area within the bathroom can be sampled, it is also recommended to sample the air within the adjoining rooms to see the extent of the damage that may be taking place in other areas of the home by affecting the indoor air quality.

Many homes within the area around Seattle, WA can have mold damage and water damage due to the amounts of rain, thus finding the real source of this is crucial in getting the home back to being safe and healthy.

How is it determined that something is mold?

All of the samples are sent to a 3rd party laboratory in order to be analyzed for about 25 different types of common molds that will grow in the areas around the home.  This testing is essential in determining the necessity and the extent of remediation protocol that is necessary.

How intrusive is the mold inspection and mold testing?

The inspection and testing for mold takes roughly 1 hour and is completely non-intrusive.  The sampling will not damage any part of the home at all and all of the analysis comes back in just a few days from the lab, making it a quick and easy way to get real answers on what is going on with the indoor air quality of a home.
